TarPul sites provide safe access across seasonal rivers and streams
which flood during the four months of the Nepali monsoon. The Budhi
Gandaki, however, is a large volume river that remains uncrossable
year round, and becomes especially dangerous during the rainy season.
The TarPul at Kashigaon offers the residents of Gorkha District safe
access to primary and secondary schools, two different health posts,
and local markets. An estimated 30-40 trips per day are made across
this wire bridge year round. Funding for this bridge was made possible
by Kadoorie Agricultural Aid Association, a Hong Kong - based organization
which seeks to provide assistance to British Gurkha communities throughout
Nepal. |
