The Mayankhu river is a monsoon stream, typical
of the foothills, and high water levels make this river uncrossable
from July to September. This site created a serious seasonal barrier
to nearby the local resident health care centers and limited access
to schools and markets by the local residents. There were no alternate
crossings near the bridge site. An estimated 300 villagers use
this bridge daily during the monsoon season. Over 200 of these
crossings are made by students.
