The
bridge at Anptar crosses over the Kokhajor Khola, a monsoon stream
that floods more than three months of the year. Various schools,
markets, and medical facilities are found in the area, but access
to those facilities becomes impossible during the monsoon when this
river is uncrossable. In addition, many villagers from this area
move to Kathmandu looking for work, about 1 to 2 day's travel from
Gokule. During the Nepali festival season, this bridge significantly
decreases the travel time from Kathmandu to the many villages in
the region. Roughly 20 students from each bank use this crossing
daily in the monsoon, in addition to nearly 100 trips made by other
villagers everyday.
