This
site was chosen by the local VDCs and the Banjhakhet Mothers and
Youth Groups to decrease the commute to school on the Besisahar
side for the 200 children of Banjhakhet. Besisahar is the starting
point for one of the major treks in Nepal (the east side of the
Annapurna Circuit) and this bridge not only provides improved access
to this major trail, but also ensures faster transport of goods
along this important route. In an impressive diplomatic display
at a time of heightened political unrest, all political parties
came together to support and insure the safe construction of the
Banjhakhet TarPul. After a maintenance visit last August, EcoSystems'
staff reported an average of 600 trips made per day at this crossing!
