The Founders
..

David and Haydi Sowerwine arrived from Menlo Park, California in 1991 - originally to help 'kick start agri-business.' They found endless opportunities to be useful, discovered the Nepali culture and people to be a source of constant surprises and pleasure, and gradually Chakupat, Lalitpur, Nepal has become their home.

Haydi worked extensively with IDEO in Palo Alto, California before relocating to Nepal, where she became notably involved with AWON (Active Women of Nepal). She had an instrumental role in establishing the AWON scholarship program and helped organize "Mirror Magazine," a periodical published by UNWO (United Nations Women's Organization).

After participating in horticulture, forestry reform, waste management, children's homes, etc., David and Haydi formed and funded their own company (EcoSystems Pvt. Ltd. Nepal) to do R&D and commercialize ideas that would provide rural people with feasible transportation and electrical power solutions.
