How to Help

Why do villages need assistance?

The cost of even the WireBridge is beyond what most Nepali villages can afford. Average per capita income still measures less than $200 per year. The central government allocated Rs 500,000 (about $ 6,500) to each local community for community projects. This is about $1 per person. With the current political situation in Nepal, however, increased security expenses have nearly eliminated this allowance. With many critical demands for these limited village funds, putting a bridge over dangerous water has become very difficult.

Small donations are welcome and can be channeled through Bridges to Prosperity (USA) or the Fonds Parvati (Europe).

Bridge Financiers can be of most help by pledging a budget for the construction of a bridge. In many cases, this may be easily justified as these WireBridges help to meet many donor objectives such as improving access to schools, health care or markets.
